General

Konkraimor is a city on the eastern coast of Ikoval. Originally built on a island just off the coast now called the Old Town, it has since expanded onto the mainland - the New Town .

Description

As a city, Konkraimor comprises of two main districts - the Old Town and the New Town. The two of those are connected with a man-made land bridge, on which runs a large road. This land bridge also serves, as the base from which the docks are constructed.

Old Town

The Old Town is located entirely on the island. It houses the oldest and most prestigious buildings in the city, including the Lord's manor, the library and all government buildings. This is the place where travelers looking for luxury accommodations are sent, and where the higher end merchants and craftsmen setup shop.

Notable current and former locations within the district include:

New Town

The New Town formerly comprised of buildings focused on industries, which required to much space to fit on the island, or needed direct access to the roads out of town. Now however, the majority of structures were constructed to house the mass of new arrivals, since the Skalenvru tariff's introduction. The buildings here have a more modern, practical look, doing away with the fine decorative elements of the Old Town ones, in favour of being more functional. Most of the workers live here, with those unable to afford or find homes for themselves, instead staying and shared bunkhouses. The taverns and shops here focus on quantity over quality and cater to a lower class of individual than those on the island.

History

Current

Due to increased tariffs in Skalenvru, Konkraimor experienced a surge of visitors, as most of the ship headed for Skalenvru, opted to dock in Konkraimor instead. This influx of people and goods meant an increase in construction and the caused a rapid sprawl in the new town, where buildings could barely be constructed fast enought. This in turn, lead to worse working conditions for labourers and a growing dissent against the city's lord, whose spending focused primarily on improvements to the Old Town.
