Description
High Lord Lokaci Wuce is an ancient vampire lord, one of the first to exist, and former head of Metua. He was a servant of Porton Thaninand leader of the Dead Court.
Appearance
Being born a high-elf, Wuce was gifted with looks which would not wane for centuries. That was further extended by his vampiric transformation. He maintains the appearance of a handsome middle aged elf, with pale skin and long straight black hair. His clothing retain the style of his people and he could easily be taken for another High Elven courtier, if not for his crimson eyes, which appear glow in the dark.
Personality
Being one of the oldest creatures on the continent, it is hard to summarise the changes Wuce's personality has gone through. He appears to be driven by his thirst for knowledge, seeing his vampiric state as more of a means to an end, allowing him to live near indefinitely, rather than a goal in itself. He is shown to have been capable of compassion, as in the case of Rishida Xinja, whom he befriended while she was shunned by the world and eventually turned so they could be together. He claims to regret the things done by the Dead Court, saying that he was tricked by Porton, but instead of making amends he sought to simply leave and hide in the Underdark. Still, he is shown to be cold and calculating, allowing the rest of the Court to be killed, a small way in which he could defy his master, and orchestrating Kalen's escape from his home town, in the hope of the man's eventual return.
Biography
Early History
Wuce's early history is shrouded in mystery, as is most of the events of the time. He was born during the first era and was one of the first vampires to exist. He greatly favoured the study of magic and history and dedicated himself to it. At some point in time, he met Porton Thanin, who was in possession of Wuce's most sought item - The Tome of Ioun. Desiring the book of knowledge above all other things, Wuce agreed to serve Porton for a time, in exchange for the book. He had underestimated the magical power of the lich, whose Giftbound the vampire to his will. He was given the direction of creating a country of undead in the south of Velinde and he proceeded to to so.
At some point, he met a young woman with a peculiar affliction. Having resisted the effects of a Ilithid tadpole, she was left disfigured and shunned by the high society she had once enjoyed. They got along and eventually he turned her into a vampire so that they could be together forever.
Centuries later, in one of the "feeding towns" established in his treaty with the nations of the continent, a child was born, whose soul was infused with divine energy. Wuce knew that children like that are often born for a reason and follow their destiny. He sought to give young Kalen a goal - the destruction of Metua, in the hope it would lead to his own freedom. He orchestrated an attack on the town, which would kill most of the inhabitants, including Kalen's family and arranged for Kalen to escape with his life. Using the power of his Ring of Three Wishes, he created a permanent connection to the boy, allowing him to observe his actions from a distance.
Current
When the war against Metua was declared, following the First Council of Flottyem, Wuce knew his freedom was close. He continued the war, but every time one of his generals was slain, he knew his goal was being fulfilled. Eventually he was close enough and Porton distracted enough, that he reached out to the Order of the Brown Dragon to negotiate his surrender. He knew the Order had freed other of Porton's Servants by slaying them and bringing them back, but his vampiric nature would not allow for that. Instead, he had another way - the Ring of Three Wishes. The Gift of Servitude, would prevent him or any who serve him to free him from his contract, so he hoped Kalen would do it for him in exchange for the final wish and Wuce and Rishida leaving Velinde via the Underdark. To sweeten the deal, he had kept Kalen's mother and his older sister alive and would allow the cleric to meet them.
Kalen accepted the deal and used the first wish to free the vampire lord, who felt his powers return for the first time in centuries. However, he had underestimated the depths of Kalen's hatred for vampires. Still drained from the use of the wish, Kalen quickly handed the ring to his blue haired companion and urged him to wish for Wuce to face justice for his sins. As he realized what his fate was to be, Wuce ordered the demon he had guarding Kalen's family to attack, before disappearing from existence.
