Description

Nika Kavka is an Emisar of the Kingdom of Dragomir and the youngest member of their order. She is a graduate of the College of Erlrinner and is currently overseeing the railway construction in Skalenvru.

Appearance

Nika human woman with dark, raven hair, in her late 20s wearing the robes that mark her as an Emisar of the Kingdom of Dragomir. An Eloquence bard, like Valeyo, she prefers using a traditional magical focus to a musical instrument.

Personality

Nika is a serious woman, who takes her job very seriously. She is well-spoken and has been shown to prefer non-violent resolution, focusing on spell that restrain people rather than kill. The newest member of the Emisars, she is the one most unhappy with the traditional inflexible state of affairs in her order. Thus she is willing to take some loopholes, in order to accomplish her tasks, such as using Milivoj Novosel as a intermediary for contracting the builders of Skalenvru, despite the king forbidding their involvement. Her years studying in Velinde, likely contributed to her more modern outlook.

Biography

Early Life

Not much is known of her early life, besides the fact that she was sent to study in the College of Erlrinner. There she became a member of college of Eloquence and rose to be one of its top students. Her performance was notable enough that both Thalia in the same year, who was the star pupil of the College of Swords and Valeyo Eklund, who was in the year below, knew of her reputation.

Emisar

After graduation she returned to Dragomir, where she joined the Emisars. In the second half of Year 10, she was assigned to oversee the construction of the dock and railway in Skalenvru and was to travel there in the company of Khert Drazhen Novosel.

Current

The Emisar was visited by the exiled scion of House Novosel Milivoj Novosel and Valeyo Eklund in the Solar Palace. The two of them claimed to have been sent by Dr Stanov to ensure that the construction went smoothly, following the incident in Stendolin involving another Emisar. It quickly became clear that the three of them agreed that hiring local labourers, whose expertise in working in the steep conditions of Skalenvru, would greatly speed up the construction effort, but the king's orders of only contracting citizens of Dragomir remained.

Valeyo suggested contracting Milivoj for the job, who could them subcontract, but she was reluctant to involve a member of the nobility in such a scheme, especially when travelling in his father's party. Milivoj insisted that he had cut ties with his family in all but name and was willing to officially relinquish his status. After seeing his determination she agreed and ratified the man's departure from his clan, before contracting him for the construction efforts. A formal agreement was quickly worked out and she bid them farewell, expecting to see them next, on the day of the auction.

During the auction, Niva came to Valeyo and Otto's rescue, when the two of them were attacked by High Priestess Gemma. She trapped the Disciple of the Moon in a force cage, which prompted its transformation and eventual explosion following his defeat. She survived the fight and advised Valeyo to expect an inquiry in the coming days, considering the help they provided in the defeat of both Crimson and Gemma. At a later meeting, she would reveal to Valeyo a discovery she had made - Crimson was an agent of the Surgeon, one of the Five.
