Early life
Caluprax was born into noble of of Glacier in Kokkalti. As a member of the main family, he grew up in luxury, never working a day in his life and for a while his only concern was how to stave off boredom. Despite being the third-born son, his father would still see him educated and present at societal events, so as not to shame the house. Education was not all bad, as it allowed Caluprax to find his interest in history and his passion for music. Learning to play a variety of instruments Calu wanted to pursue this study further, but his father barred him until he finished his other studies.
Despite agreeing to put the life of drinking and partying behind him and become a proper noble, Caluprax retained a rebellious streak, one which manifested itself with his joining of the Cult of Tiamat. Intrigued by the history and lore, the young dragonborn was full indoctrinated and became a full fledged member of the Cult, much to his father's disapproval. Although never said aloud, Caluprax was aware that his father would see harsh consequences for any member of House Glacier, caught worshipping Tiamat. This drove Calu to keep his worship secret, being careful to to reveal his face or his name and participating as a minor worshipper, rather than taking a major role.
In his public life, Caluprax was about to undergo the Trial of the Arturium - a test to detect any latent magical talent residing within an individual. The Trial showed that Calu did have a natural inclination towards magic and his lessons began. What quickly became apparent is that while he had the talent, he lacked the patience and focus to produce any significant effects. This came as a big disappointment to his family, to whom having a high ranking member of the house with magical abilities would have been a welcome addition. Distraught at his lack of progress, Calu began skipping his magical lessons, much to the chagrin of his father.
Feywild
To Caluprax the forests had always been a welcome reprieve from the burdens of societal and familial expectations. A place where he could wander, spend time with friends and away from his family. It was also where he could forget about magic and focus on his musical skill, which had only improved with the years. One day after taking some Smokeleaf, Caluprax was playing his Lute, when he stumbled upon a peculiar stone circle. Observing it and spending some time playing music around it, he suddenly grew tired - an after effect of the Smokeleaf, laid down for a nap.
When Calu awoke he was greeted with a similar stone circle to the first, but in a forest he did not recognise. Quickly he found hiumself exploring the forest getting lost almost immediately. Over the course of a day Calu explored and attempted to map out the forest in his mind, but to no avail. He did however see some other creatures in the forest such as a pack of dogs and some small flying humanoid creatures that seemed to notice him and giggle before flying away.
Eventually Calu heard the tune of an instrument being played. This music was unlike anything he had seen or heard before with the notes themselves seeming to float through the air with a magical glow. Following this sound it progressively got louder and more complex, with faint singing from several different individuals, male and female passing through the air around him. Soon he reached a a opening in the forest, where on the grassy floor was a group of a few dozen individuals, playing instruments. This arboreal orchestra consisted of satyrs, humans elves and a mix of fey races, Calu was not familiar with.
This group informed him that he had found himself transported to the Feywild, a parallel plane of existence. Getting back was, apparently also not something he was going to be able to do quickly or easily, as the only guaranteed way of getting back would mean travelling somewhere called the “Feydark”. There he would need to seek a portal which would transport him to the stone circle where he had entered. The revelation that he wouldn't not be returning soon didn't fill him with the expected panic, but surprisingly - with excitement. The peaceful land and joyful people, away from the burden of responsibility appealed to the young man and he began his journey with the orchestra, marveling at the beauty of this new land.
During his travels, sleep was something reserved for the early morning, as the Satyr would often create a campfire, gather some logs and begin their nightly ritual of singing, dancing and performing. Calu would join them with his lure and soon after starting to play his instrument, he began to feel a shallow flow of arcane energy coursing through him. Trying to cast Prestidigitation, a spell he had practiced for hours, but never able to use, he found success for the very first time. The previously dull lessons, when combined with his love of music allowed him to focus his magic like never before and his latent talent was brought to the surface.
After this discovery, the satyr found new respect for him, treating him as not just a companion, but one of their own. Caluprax was happy to stay with them and develop his magical abilities for a few months, learning much of the teachings needed for his College of Glamour abilities. He was warned to keep the abilities of the College a secret, as that would make them most effective, and so he did. The next months were spend in learning, playing and travelling, when suddenly an opportunity to return home presented itself. A group of satyr were about to journey into the Feydark on a visit to Kokkalti. Entering the Feydark, Calu was enthralled by its majesty and soon found the portal he had been looking for. The guardians of the portal were in stark contrast to their picturesque surroundings - 2 giant deformed creatures, wielding clubs of dark stone.
The guardians charged, and a battle ensued, where Calu weaved some of his magic within his music, empowering the satyrs. Soon the first giant fell and its partner fled in terror leaving Calu's group victorious. While celebrating, Clau was told of the nature of these creatures - Fomorians, a once beautiful race cursed for their hubris. Soon it was time to say goodbye, and Calu ventured into the portal waking up in the familiar stone circle back near Kokkalti.
Return to the Material
What quickly became apparent to Calu, is that time in the Feywild was weird. The 9 months he though he had spend in the Feywild, appeared to have been slightly over 2 years in the Material Plane. Returning to Kokkalti, Calu found that as far as society was concerned he was missing or dead. In his absence his rooms had been searched and his father, a devout worshipper of the Platinum Dragon, had found his shrine to Tiamat. Learning about how his father was outraged by the fact that his soon had been "intoxicated by falsehoods" and had "irreparably damaged the reputation of the house", Calu decided to not return home, but instead continue his travels, this time in the Material Plane.
Stopping by the Cult to acquire a new prayer book, he left with a deeper devotion to the Dragon Queen and a stronger hatred for Bahamut and Unthar, caused by his family's reaction. The Green Head of Tiamat and leader of house Miasma, Salhadur tried to convince him to remain in the city and help spread the Queen's word, but Calu refused, hopping on the first ship away, determined to find another entrance into the Feywild elsewhere. His bardic skills allowed his to make friends, and help those around him and soon gave him a reputation as a travelling adventurer. Eventually reaching mainland Velinde, Caluprax kept heading west, before finding himself in the city of Colchester.
