Ja'adock Zaar, is a githyanki swashbuckler rogue and a member of the adventuring party known as the Order of the Brown Dragon.

Description

Appearance

Ja’adock is tall and slender githyanki man with long curly hear. He has shaved the sides of his head and tied his shoulder length dreadlocks back into a bunch. Prior to his immolation, at the hands of Kerslarven, and his body's subsequent recreation by Kalen, he bore many scars and signature facial tattoos, which complemented his hawkish face. His eye colour was originally violet, but one of his eyes is now filled with a starry expanse, resembling the Astral sea, following his recovery from Dendar's venom. He has numerous piercings in his ears and eyebrows, mostly mismatched hoops.

His attire includes a double breasted black leather jerkin with gold trim over a dark blue shirt. A pair of black boots and black trousers cover his legs. He wears numerous leather belts and straps with either additional padding or pouches for various knick-knacks. On one hip he has a holster for his hand cannon and the other a holder for his Sun Blade. A pair of leather padded leather vambraces cover his forearms, which have been wrapped with red leather strips adorned with numerous bone charms and githyanki runes.

On his back he wears a the mythical Cloak of Misdirection. It is a double sided cloak, one side is blacker than night seemingly drawing in light, the other side is ridiculously flamboyant and coloured with rich blue, pink and gold patterns which draw attention.

Personality

Ja’adock was a timeless slave solider for several hundred years under a quasi-immortal tyrant, which has left much to be desired from his social skills. After breaking free and captaining his own vessel, he adopted a generally anti-authoritarian and carefree attitude. He loves drinking and was a frequent visitor of Skonis's tavern, where they share stories.

He generally takes what he wants with a passing fancy and isn't one to run from a fight. Despite this, through his time with the Order he has developed somewhat of a moral compass and at least tries to resolve things non-violently first. Even still, his cocky attitude often leads him to inadvertent trouble. When he knows he is out of his depth, he is happy to defer to the Quiggly or Sar, though still adding unnecessary commentary.

Ja’adock is highly skilled rogue, focusing in isolating enemies and delivering high amounts of burst damage. His years of boarding ships and close quarters fighting have honed his technique into a master duelist who excels in a one on one. Through his githyanki heritage he can teleport and jump great distances. Outside of combat he shines, with his outstanding stealth, observation and piloting skills. He boasts the record for the single strongest strike in the Order, when he defeated Lesh'kanel, the most formidable supreme commander of the githyanki, in one blow.

His main weaknesses are his lack of area of effect attacks and his dubious mental resilience, which has got him into trouble multiple times

Astral Soul

Like the rest of the Order, Ja'adock's soul was permanently altered by his experiences in the Infinite Staircase. The magic which allows the Staircase to bond to it's wielders, combined with the essence of the Astral Sea, which had seeped into his eye, following its destruction by Dendar, changed his soul, attuning it to the Astral Sea. This allows Ja'adock to manifest effects resembling that of the Staircase, while in the Astral Sea. When there, he can create a portal, akin to those made with the Gate spell, between his destitution and any point within the Astral Sea.
