Right as combat began,  a sudden torrential rain started falling. As the groups prepared to ambush one of the giants, lighting began to strike and a screech filled the sky. Suddenly a shadow covered the battlefield. Everyone looked up and saw the electricity covered form of the legendary Thunder Roc, which filled them with an air of inspiration.

The group dispatched the giants and freed the stag, whose wing and leg were broken. It thanked them for their help. Valeyo suggested that they leave, as the Hill Giants are headed that way. The Stag said that it had to protect the forest, so it would face them. Thankfully, it was convinced to leave for now and fight another day. It asked where the group was heading. When it was told their goal was Velidol, it warned them of the cat there. The creature was apparently domesticated, but giant. Otto took some time to fashion a simple split for the Stag's Wing. When that was done, the stag bowed to him and said that should they ever be in need of help and in the area, it would be there for them.

After gathering some of the Frost Giant's arrows, the group walked back to where they had left their cart and retainers and continued their travels. The rest of the day was slow going, as the torrential rain had turned the ground in to mud. Near the end of the day's travels, they found a place to rest.

In the morning, Otto messaged Janske about their approach. He responded, letting them know that the Stormstrike were already there and he would be seeing them in a few days.

The group could finally see the town of Velidol in the distance. As their wagon approached, they could make out a small wall around the town and from inside a humanoid walked out towards them. By their side was a huge cat. It looked much like a normal white and grey, except scaled to the size of a giant. After a few hundred feet, it became clear that the humanoid was a Skardir. He waved at them and asked if they were with the Stormstrike. Otto confirmed and the man looked at the cat before calling out to it "Tess, you can go home.". He then turned to the group and told them the beast was just a precaution, as they don't get many visitors. Valeyo found that surprising as this town is the start to the path up to Moratop. The man chuckled and said it was the path for those insane enough to go through the Valley, but most come from the east, where it was safer. Shiek asked about the cat. It apparently was the pet of an adventurer, who left it there, once it outgrew him. For the last century it has been taken care of by the town. The Skardir asked them to follow him and introduced himself as Rig.

He lead them inside town and said that if they needed anything, they can find his house near the centre. Valeyo asked about climbing gear and was told to look at the forge, the owner there would be able to fashion then something. Rig told them to feel at home, and feel free to leave their stuff around, as there is no thieving around here, lest you become Tess's lunch. Valeyo said they should find the Stormstrike and speak to them about the phoenix, before Janske' arrives.
